After getting the leadership, Rashid said, “Captaincy is a huge responsibility. I have experience leading the country. The boys are great, I have a good understanding of them, and I am comfortable. We will try to stay together and work hard to keep everything in order. So that we can bring pride and joy to our country and nation.

Rashid was the T20 captain for three months in 2019. In all, Afghanistan has won 7 out of 16 matches played under Rashid. Under his leadership, Afghanistan won the Test against Bangladesh in 2019. Rashid’s first assignment in this round will be the three-match T20 series against the UNITED Arab Emirates in February.
