Former Zimbabwe cricket captain Heath Streak passed away on Sunday at the age of 49, as confirmed by his family on social media. Heath Streak had been battling liver cancer for an extended period, and it was on Sunday that he succumbed to the illness.

Heath Streak’s wife, Nadine, took to Facebook to share a poignant tribute to her late husband, accompanied by a few pictures of the former Zimbabwe all-rounder. In her post, she expressed her profound emotions:

“In the early hours of this morning, Sunday the 3rd of September 2023, the greatest love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was carried to be with the Angels from his home where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones.”

Nadine added, “He was covered in love and peace and did not walk off the Park alone. Our souls are joined for eternity Streaky. Till I hold you again.”

Heath Streak, who represented Zimbabwe in 65 Tests and 189 ODIs from 1993 to 2005, had been battling liver cancer for an extended period. He made a significant impact as an all-rounder during his cricket career.

A few days prior, former Zimbabwe fast bowler Henry Olonga had announced Streak’s demise on social media, only to retract his statement hours later upon receiving contradictory information from his captain. However, by that time, condolences from numerous former cricketers had already poured in.
