England opener feels that the upcoming Indian Premier League () will put England players in a good frame of mind to prepare them for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to be played in India later in October-November.

Jonny Bairstow was the lone star for England in the recent first ODI against India, scoring 94 runs in quick-fire time, putting a 135-run partnership with Jason Roy (46). However, when he and Roy fell, the England team imploded in their chase of 317 runs and lost the match by 66 runs to go down 0-1 in the three-ODI series.

Jonny Bairstow was retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2021 auction and will play for the franchise in the IPL 2021 which begins from April 9 onwards. Sunrisers Hyderabad will open their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai on April 11.
“It will be a great opportunity to play at different grounds that we could potentially be playing in the T20 World Cup. Also to see how different teams will go about bowling in those conditions. Because, naturally with the dimension of the grounds and also wickets, it varies how attacks go about defending totals and batsmen go about setting them, so it will be an interesting competition,” Bairstow said during a virtual press conference on Wednesday.

“Obviously playing over here, it was a new ground, it was a lot of learning but the games that we have got in IPL will be in Chennai. However, the acclimatization in India, whether it would be to the conditions or weather or in general will hopefully help. But nothing can be taken for guaranteed, we know the quality of the competition and quality of the opposition,” Bairstow said talking about SRH’s first game in Chennai, a venue where spin reigns supreme.
The IPL 2021 will be played across six cities- Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. The Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad will be the hosts for the playoffs stage and the final, which will be played on May 30.
