Chetan Sharma has stepped down as the chief selector of the Indian cricket team. According to Indian media reports, Chetan has sent his resignation letter to BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Jay Shah has also accepted the resignation letter.

He understood that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could take action against Chetan. However, there was also a chance to defend himself. Chetan resigned before that. It is to be noted that a few days ago, Chetan’s name was involved in the ‘sting operation’ of a TV channel. There, he talked about the ego fight between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli, forced play with pain-relieving injections against Jasprit Bumrah, etc. As a result, India’s coach, and captain lost faith in Chetan.

This is the second time Chetan has been appointed as the chief selector. After India’s failure in the T20 World Cup last year, the BCCI sacked the entire selection committee, including Chetan.
