Courtney Walsh has to pay for West Indies’ disappointing performance in the last Twenty20 World Cup. Cricket West Indies is not signing a new contract with this legendary fast bowler as the head coach of the women’s national team. Two assistant coaches, former batsman Robert Samuels and former pacer Corey Collymore, have to accept the fate of the head coach. No one’s contract is being renewed.

Walsh, the first bowler to take 500 wickets in Test history, took over as Bangladesh’s bowling coach in 2016. His tenure ends with the 2019 World Cup. BCB did not renew his contract later. In October 2020, he was appointed as the head coach of the West Indies women’s team.

Under his coaching, West Indies won the series against Pakistan at home and in Pakistan in 2021. 2022 ODI World Cup Caribbean women play in the final. However, the Caribbean left the T20 World Cup last February before the knockout stage. Under his coaching, West Indies could win only 7 of 24 T20Is, and only 11 in 32 ODIs.
