Sammy officially received the country’s highest civilian award, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, as a Pakistani citizen when he received his citizenship in February 2020. And this time he was given the ‘Sitara-e-Pakistan’ award. According to Pakistani media, Sammy has been awarded the Sitara-e-Pakistan award for his contribution to the return of international cricket to the country. Later on Monday, Sammy himself reported the news through social media. On August 14 last year, Sammy was nominated for the award by the President of Pakistan Arif Ur Rehman Alvi. After about 9 and a half months it was handed over to him.

Sammy has captained Peshawar Zalmi for four seasons in PSL. He later served as the team’s head coach. He received the award from his home country St. Lucia after wearing the national dress of Pakistan.
