ICC Aims to Release 2023 Cricket World Cup Fixtures at the Earliest Opportunity, Says Geoff Allardice

Geoff Allardice, the acting CEO of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has expressed the organization’s commitment to releasing the fixtures for the 2023 Cricket World Cup as soon as possible. With the tournament scheduled to be held in India, it is expected to attract significant international attention.

Although the competition is just four months away, the specific venues and schedule are yet to be finalized. In comparison, the schedule for the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia and New Zealand was announced 18 months before the event, while the 2019 ODI World Cup in England and Wales had its schedule unveiled 13 months in advance.

However, the schedule for the upcoming World Cup remains undisclosed. Despite ESPNcricinfo’s report in March stating the tournament would be held from October 5 to November 19, the ICC has not officially confirmed any dates.

During an interview on the BBC’s Test Match Special, Geoff Allardice did not commit to a specific timeline but indicated that the fixtures might be made public next week. Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), had previously mentioned that the schedule would be revealed during the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval.

“We are currently expecting to receive the schedule from the hosts, and we need to consult with all participating teams and broadcasters. We will publish it as soon as we possibly can. When organizing events, we work closely with the host countries. In some cases, there are various consultations required within the cricket system and with governments. Hosts have a responsibility to deliver a successful event, and they must go through the necessary checks and balances,” stated Geoff Allardice.
