Shubman Gill can burn with regret even on the day of such success. He did not get to the first century of his ODI career for just 2 runs. But he wasn’t out either. Gill’s forehead was burnt in the rain.

But nothing happened to him. Gill had to leave the field with the bat in the rain and stay in the dressing room.

Gill did not come down to the field later due to rain. He remained unbeaten on 98. The Indian opener did not get a century in the 6th match of his ODI career for just 2 runs.

Gill put on 113 runs in partnership with Dhawan in the match. Dhawan was dismissed for 58 off 7 fours. Gill and Shreyas Iyer then combined to pull the team’s total to 199. In this run, Shreyas returned with 44 off 4 fours and 1 six.

In the 36th over, 225 runs were collected for the loss of 4 wickets and it rained. He remained unbeaten on 98 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 6 with him.

The West Indies were then set a target of 252 runs in 35 overs. In pursuit of that target, the cabbies could not stand in front of the Indian bowlers. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Kyle Meyers and Shamarh Brooks in the space of three balls in the second over. Neither of the two could open the scoring.

Opener Shai Hope was stumped for 22 runs a six off Chahal in the final over of the first power-play. Pooran and Brandon King tried to bring the team back into the match with aggressive batting in the middle order. But he didn’t get up. Skipper Pooran scored 42 off 32 balls. King scored 42 off 37 balls.

This was followed by a crash in the Caribbean camp. Only one of the last 6 batters can go to double digits. Hayden Walsh Jr. scored 10 runs at 10 down. If no one else can take advantage, the Windies leave the field at a big rate. With the ball, Chahal took 4 wickets.
