Joining them are TV umpire Paul Wilson, fourth umpire Shahid Saikat, and match referee Javagal Srinath.

Shahid Saikat, from Bangladesh, will make history as the first umpire from his country to officiate in the competition.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named a 20-member team to oversee the World Cup contests, comprising 16 umpires and four match referees, including 12 umpires from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires.

Six of the 16 umpires will be making their debut in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, while three return after having previously umpired in finals.

Several officials from the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup make a return, including Marais Erasmus and Richard Kettleborough, who presided over the finals in 2019 and 2015, respectively. Kumar Dharmasena and Marais Erasmus were in the middle for both the 2019 final at Lord’s and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final.

Rod Tucker, the third umpire in the 2019 final, also joins the lineup, marking a familiar presence with three of the four officials from the 2019 showpiece returning. Other experienced returning umpires include Chris Gaffaney, Michael Gough, Paul Reiffel, Richard Illingworth, and Joel Wilson.

Nitin Menon, the youngest umpire in the tournament at 39, represents the host nation, India. He is joined by Shahid Saikat, Ahsan Raza, Adrian Holdstock, Alex Wharf, and Chris Brown, who are all making their debut in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The four match referees, Jeff Crowe, Andy Pycroft, Richie Richardson, and Javagal Srinath, are all former international players, adding a depth of cricketing expertise to the officiating team.
