Sri Lanka is facing its worst crisis since independence in 1948. The Lankans are devastated by severe inflation, energy shortages, shortages of essential commodities, and sky-rocketing prices, load shedding problems. The island nation is in the throes of an economic and political crisis. Due to the ongoing problems in the country, SLC is likely to lose the opportunity to host this year’s Asia Cup.

The company has also received an ultimatum from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The ACC has to be informed by July 27 whether the SLC will be able to host the Asia Cup at all. However, SLC secretary Mohan has confirmed that the next Asia Cup will be on Sri Lankan soil, no matter what the problems are.

“The Asia Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament will be held in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11 and this is the final,” Mohan told the Sri Lankan media. The SLC is very positive about hosting the Asia Cup with the help of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
