Shakib Al Hasan’s Montreal Tigers dominated the Global T20 Canada table, achieving their third consecutive victory with a six-wicket win against Vancouver Knights in Brampton on Tuesday.

Despite moderate performances from both Liton Das and Shakib, their respective teams still emerged victorious in the Global T20 Canada matches yesterday.

Shakib had an off day with the ball, conceding 41 runs without taking any wickets in his four-over spell as Vancouver Knights set a target of 149 for four.

In the batting department, Shakib could only manage 12 runs off eight deliveries and departed early in the innings, leaving Montreal Tigers in a challenging position at three for 21 after 2.5 overs. However, Sherfane Rutherford’s exceptional unbeaten knock of 84 off 53 balls turned the game around, leading the Tigers to victory with 11 deliveries to spare.

Meanwhile, batting at number three, Liton scored a brisk 20-ball 21, including a boundary and a maximum, propelling his team Surrey Jaguars to a 20-run win over Toronto Nationals in a reduced 18-over match at the same venue.

The Jaguars posted 141 for six in 18 overs and skillfully restricted their opponents to 121 for nine.

Montreal Tigers Secure Consecutive Victory with Shakib’s Stellar Performance. In the Global T20 Canada league, Montreal Tigers emerged victorious with a seven-wicket win against Mississauga Panthers, thanks to outstanding performances by Shakib and Chris Lynn.

Chasing the Panthers’ total of 140 for six, Shakib played a crucial role during the Powerplay. Entering the crease at number three in the second over, he wasted no time showcasing his aggressive intent. A boundary through mid-on and another one through square leg off pacer Jaskarandeep set the tone early on.

However, it was against left-arm spinner Praveen Kumar that Shakib unleashed a flurry of aggressive shots, plundering 20 runs in just four deliveries. He connected a mis-hit shot that cleared short third-man for four, followed by a flat six over mid-on and another towering six straight down the ground. A well-executed sweep for four further added to his blazing start, reaching 30 runs in just 13 balls. The carnage eventually slowed down after the Powerplay, and Shakib departed in the ninth over, dismissed by an Usman Qadir delivery that caught him off guard.

His quick 36 off 24 balls laid the groundwork for the Tigers’ successful chase. Chris Lynn continued the assault, smashing a magnificent 64 off 45 balls, including nine boundaries and a six. His 60-run partnership with Shakib was followed by a solid 59-run stand with Sherfane Rutherford, guiding the Tigers to a comfortable seven-wicket victory with 4.1 overs to spare.

Earlier in the game, Shakib also made a significant impact with the ball, taking a wicket for 28 runs. Left-arm seamer Kaleem Sana was the star bowler, bagging three wickets for just eight runs as Montreal Tigers restricted the Panthers to a total of 140, despite James Neesham’s half-century.

In the previous game, Shakib displayed his all-round prowess, claiming the wicket of fellow countryman Liton Das and contributing to Montreal’s five-wicket win.
