Pooran’s exceptional performance saw him score only the second century in MLC history, guiding his team to a six-wicket triumph and clinching the title.

The left-hander’s unbeaten knock of 137 runs came off just 55 deliveries, featuring ten boundaries and an impressive 13 sixes. He achieved the three-figure mark in a mere 40 balls, leading his team to successfully chase down the target of 184 runs with four overs to spare and seven wickets in hand.

Reflecting on the remarkable achievement, Pooran spoke about the team’s determination to create history despite facing challenges due to the absence of their captain and a few players. He expressed pride in the collective effort of the team, emphasizing their preparation and belief in each other. In the first innings, having won the toss and elected to bowl, MI New York’s bowlers limited Seattle to 183/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Trent Boult and Rashid Khan stood out with three wickets each, leading the bowling attack effectively.

For Seattle, Quinton de Kock showcased an impressive display with the bat, scoring 87 runs off 52 deliveries. However, his efforts were not enough to overcome the dominant performance by Nicholas Pooran and his team, as MI New York emerged victorious to claim the MLC 2023 title.
