India’s cricketing prodigy, Kuldeep Yadav, achieved a monumental milestone on Tuesday, as he reached 150 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs), shattering the record previously held by the iconic Anil Kumble. In just 88 ODIs, Kuldeep has become the fastest Indian spinner to reach this remarkable feat.

In a scintillating display of spin mastery, Kuldeep Yadav proved to be virtually unplayable during the Asia Cup Super Four match against Sri Lanka. He claimed four vital wickets, conceding only 43 runs in 9.3 overs, at an economy rate of 4.52. Among his significant scalps were the middle-order batsmen, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka, followed by the dismissal of Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana, completing the tail-end cleanup.

With 150 wickets in just 88 ODIs, Kuldeep boasts an impressive career average of 25.64, showcasing his consistency and prowess. His best bowling figures of 6/25 highlight his ability to change the course of a match single-handedly. Notably, he has secured seven four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls for the Indian cricket team in ODIs.

Kuldeep Yadav’s achievement makes him not only the fastest Indian spinner but also the second-fastest Indian overall to reach the coveted 150-wicket milestone in ODIs. He follows closely behind pacer Mohammed Shami, who accomplished this feat in just 80 matches. Moreover, Kuldeep joins the ranks of elite spinners worldwide, ranking as the fourth-fastest spinner ever to achieve 150 ODI wickets.

In the current tournament, Kuldeep Yadav has showcased his dominance with nine wickets in four matches, including a memorable five-wicket haul against arch-rivals Pakistan. His exceptional performance has solidified his position as the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing competition.
