In an extraordinary achievement, Sarfaraz Ahmed has etched his name in the history books as the first wicketkeeper-batsman from Pakistan to reach a significant milestone in Test cricket. This remarkable feat occurred during the ongoing Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Galle.

Throughout his illustrious career, Sarfaraz has consistently showcased exceptional batting skills, making substantial contributions to Pakistan’s success in the longest format of the game. His latest accomplishment of surpassing 3000 Test runs further cements his place in Pakistani cricketing folklore.

Sarfaraz, in his 91 Test innings, has demonstrated unwavering consistency and resilience at the crease. He has amassed an impressive tally of four centuries and 21 half-centuries, underscoring his ability to convert starts into substantial scores. However, in the aforementioned Test, he fell short of playing a big innings as he was dismissed for 17 by Prabath Jayasuriya.

Previously, Moin Khan held the record for the most runs by a wicketkeeper in Test cricket for Pakistan, with a total of 2741 runs. Sarfaraz’s exceptional achievement has now surpassed that mark, firmly establishing him as one of Pakistan’s premier wicketkeeper-batsmen in the country’s cricketing history.

Interestingly, during the same innings, another Pakistani batsman, Abdullah Shafique, reached a personal milestone of 1000 runs in Test cricket. Unfortunately, Shafique’s innings was cut short as he was dismissed for 19 runs by Jayasuriya.
