In a historic moment, India’s women’s cricket team embarked on their maiden Asian Games journey as they departed for China on Saturday night. The much-anticipated Asian Games are scheduled to kick off on September 23 in Hangzhou. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) expressed their excitement by sharing a snapshot of the team on their X (formerly Twitter) account.

“The Girls of Indian Cricket are all set to shine at #AsianGames2022! In an exclusive ceremony tonight, the team received a spirited send-off from @SAI_Bengaluru. We can’t wait to see them make us proud! You go GIRLS! We are here to #Cheer4India,” wrote SAI Media.

India’s women’s cricket team for the 19th Asian Games comprises 19 members, with an additional four standby players. The team will be led by the dynamic Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy. In a recent development, the Women’s Selection Committee has selected Pooja Vastrakar, who was initially on the standby list, as a replacement for Anjali Sarvani.
