World champions England whitewashed Bangladesh in T20. England first used the term whitewash in cricket 137 years ago. That year, the Englishmen were flying high in pride after winning all the matches of the three-match series against Australia. Their aristocracy got a taste of Banglawash. But they forgot what whitewash is. The Tigers relived that taste on Tuesday.

The last time the Three Lions were whitewashed in a two-match series was seven years ago. And the previous whitewash in the three-match series was 9 years ago. Bangladesh has given the taste of banglawash against England four times in the T20 series in multiple matches. The number is 23 times in three versions. It started with Kenya in 2006, with the latest addition being world champions England. Bangladesh is a very strong team in the 50-over format. And so, in this edition, the red-green representatives gave the opponent a maximum of 16 times. This experience of Bangladesh is seven times in two relatively weak editions Test and T20 combined. Three times in Test and 4 times in T20. 16 out of 23 clean sheets in the country, 7 in the opponent’s field.

In 2006, Bangladesh debuted in the short format of T20 cricket. Despite this, after 6 years, Team Tigers got the taste of defeating the opponent for the first time. The most exciting thing about this Banglawash is that each of the four opponents that Bangladesh whitewashed in the short version had a different captain. For the first time in 2012, under the leadership of Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh gave Ireland a 3-0 whitewash on their soil. In their T20 history, that was the only incident of a three-match series so far. This time the world champion became a victim of England, which was led by the world’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. In between, Bangladesh has Banglawashed the opponent twice more. In 2020, Mahmudullah Riyad led Zimb,abwe, and in 2022 Nurul Hasan Sohan’s United Arab Emirates. But both the series were two-match series.
