1975 – The First “Streaker” at Lord’s?

It was a quiet, sun-drenched day at Lord’s during the second Test between England and Australia, with the match heading toward a dull draw. That’s when Michael Angelow, a ship’s cook, decided to liven things up. After spending five hours in the Tavern Stand (and possibly one pint too many), Angelow stripped naked on a bet and sprinted onto the field. To the bemusement of players and laughter from the crowd, he leapt over the stumps at the Nursery End before heading off toward the Mound Stand—where he was arrested. The fine? £10—the exact amount he’d won in the bet. Commentator John Arlott, unfamiliar with the term, called out, “It’s a freaker!” live on BBC Radio.

1886 – Andrew Stoddart's Record-Breaking 485

At Hampstead, Andrew Stoddart smashed what was then a world-record score: 485 runs in a club match against the Stoics. 1979 – Birthday of Robin Peterson

South African spinner Robin Peterson, born today, is best known for being hit for 28 runs in a single over by Brian Lara in 2003.
