1977 – Birth of Ajit Agarkar: Highs, Lows, and Legends
Ajit Agarkar, born on this day, had one of cricket’s most roller-coaster careers. A useful batter capable of a blistering 67 off 25 balls and even a Test century at Lord’s, he also endured an infamous run of ducks against Australia—including four golden ducks in a row on the 1999–2000 tour. Despite that, Agarkar shone in ODIs, once becoming the fastest to 50 wickets, and played a pivotal role in India’s famous 2003–04 Adelaide win with 6 for 41. He later captained Mumbai to their 40th Ranji Trophy title.
