Maxwell had made just 22 off 26 balls, but then came one of cricket’s most outrageous counterattacks. Battling severe cramps — even collapsing to the ground at one stage — he smashed an unbeaten 201 off 128 balls, becoming the first Australian to score an ODI double hundred and the first player ever to do so in a chase.
Despite barely being able to move his legs, Maxwell powered Australia home with a flurry of sixes, adding 179 runs in a record 202-run stand for the eighth wicket with captain Pat Cummins. He sealed victory — and his double — with a towering six over midwicket.
Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Chauhan gave India a perfect start with an opening stand of 192, before Gavaskar and nightwatchman Syed Kirmani struck centuries. Lower down, Karsan Ghavri’s entertaining 86 pushed the total to 458.
Australia’s batters folded twice — only Allan Border (61) and Kim Hughes (80) offered resistance in the second innings — as India won by an innings and 100 runs, wrapping up the game with a day to spare.
Hockley struck two centuries in the 1997 World Cup in India, and in 2016, she made history again — becoming the first woman president of New Zealand Cricket.
After being bowled out for 242 and losing Dale Steyn to injury, South Africa’s hopes looked dim. But JP Duminy (century) and Dean Elgar (century) led a strong comeback, setting Australia a mammoth target of 539.
Young quick Kagiso Rabada took charge, claiming five wickets, as South Africa triumphed by 177 runs, extending their unbeaten record in Perth.
Franklin was more than a bowler — his unbeaten 122 against South Africa in Cape Town showcased his all-round skill. Although knee surgery stalled his career, he reinvented himself as a T20 specialist and led Middlesex to a County Championship title in 2017, their first in over two decades.
He also shared a 457-run opening partnership with Sulakshan Kulkarni, cementing his reputation as one of India’s finest domestic batters in the making.
India powered to 260 for 4, thanks to Navjot Sidhu’s unbeaten 114, while West Indies were penalized an over for a slow over rate. That proved decisive, as they fell four runs short despite a fiery 47-ball 74 from Carl Hooper.
Despite Dean Elgar’s four wickets, South Africa were bundled for 184 — all wickets falling to spin. In the final innings, Ravindra Jadeja’s five-for sealed victory, with him and R. Ashwin taking eight wickets each in the match as India went 1–0 up.
He finished with 12 for 358 in the match, the eighth-best debut figures in Test history. Despite that, Krejza played only one more Test.
But stubborn defense prevailed — England finished on 368 for 6, while India’s Vinoo Mankad bowled a marathon 76 overs for 4 wickets.
After falling out of favor in 2004, he joined the ICL in 2008, earning a ten-year ban from the BCB, which was later lifted when he quit the league and began coaching with the Asian Cricket Council in China.
