He moved to England, played league cricket, and soon earned a place with Worcestershire. At 34, he finally made his Test debut for England — and impressed right away. But his exclusion from the 1968–69 South Africa tour sparked an international uproar. When he was later called in as a replacement, the South African government refused to accept him, leading to the tour’s cancellation and decades-long isolation for South African cricket.
Through it all, D’Oliveira stood tall — calm, proud, and dignified.
He smashed 11 sixes, matching Jayasuriya’s record, and hammered 28 runs off a single over bowled by the Sri Lankan legend himself. Afridi’s fearless hitting would go on to define a new era of batting.
After a horrific car crash in 2022, Pant returned stronger — smashing runs in the 2024 IPL, a Test century on comeback, and twin hundreds at Headingley in 2025.
With over 3000 Test runs and a strike rate near 150 in T20s, Pant is pure entertainment every time he walks out to bat.
He enjoyed a purple patch in 2015–16, piling up mountains of runs, including 239 against New Zealand, averaging an incredible 162 over eight Tests during that stretch.
