Before turning 22, Harvey had already notched up six Test centuries in his first 13 innings. Later, he became a national selector and was awarded the MBE for his services to cricket. Interestingly, fellow left-hander Neil Fairbrother was named after him.
Despite this, selectors viewed him mostly as a limited-overs player, and he was dropped in 2010. After nearly four years away, he returned with a century in the Asia Cup final. His Test comeback took even longer — 10 years — but when it came in 2020, he made up for lost time with four hundreds in nine Tests.
