1937 – The Birth of Wes Hall
One of West Indies’ first great fast bowlers, Wes Hall was born today. Known for his long run-up, gold chain, and fearsome pace, Hall bowled marathon spells, including three hours unchanged at Lord’s in 1963. He loved the dramatic moments too, bowling the last over of the first-ever tied Test in Brisbane in 1960-61. In 48 Tests, he claimed 192 wickets, with best figures of 7 for 69 against England in Kingston.
